History
The WZ-10S is an upgraded version of China’s Z-10 attack helicopter, developed by the Changhe Aircraft Industries Corporation. Work on the original Z-10 began in the 1990s under a secret military programme aimed at producing a dedicated attack helicopter. Its first flight took place in 2003, and it entered service with the People’s Liberation Army around 2010. The WZ-10S features improved avionics, survivability systems, and more powerful engines, enhancing its performance in modern combat scenarios. It is equipped with a 30mm cannon, anti-tank missiles, and advanced targeting systems. The WZ-10S serves as the backbone of China's attack helicopter fleet and reflects the country's progress in producing indigenous high-performance rotary-wing military aircraft tailored for modern warfare requirements.
